For this project I chose one random subject and did research on it. I chose the discoball.
For weeks I did research on the discoball and disco and the end project was this short video.
The project "Death of Disco" centers around the exploration of the cultural and historical significance of disco, symbolized by the discoball. Initially inspired by the sexual revolution and disco aesthetics, I experimented with collages and visual designs, before transitioning into a video project. Through various iterations, including playful photoshoots and attempts to reflect disco’s vibrant past, the final video focuses on the demise of disco, represented by smashing a discoball—a nod to the infamous "Disco Demolition Night." The project evolved through research, experimentation with nu-disco music, and a blend of nostalgic and modern visuals, ultimately reflecting on the rise and fall of disco culture.
